TP5 WORKSHOP LEADERS
Eri Uchida
Hi everyone! I’m Eri Uchida from Japan. I’m very excited to share my philosophy, knowledge, technique and experiences with everyone!
I toured with the group Kodo for 10 years, and I have been to Germany many times but this will be my first time as an independent artist.
Since striking out on my own, I’ve been trying to break down everything I’ve learned as a professional player and teacher into the most basic elements.
The last 2 years of teaching (both online and in person) have made me realise that what I really want to do is to help taiko players discover and develop the unique abilities they already possess.
I’m looking forward to sharing with you through my workshop as well as meeting and learning from you all!!

Martin Doyle
Hi Everyone!
I'm Martin, and I'll be stage managing the event, organising the repertoire, and leading a workshop at Taikopaloooza 5. This event is my favourite in the annual Taiko calendar, not least because I get to spend time with and learn from some of the best human beings on the planet, but to see how this event and the people in its orbit continue to grow and flourish.
Our intention is to continually improve the quality of experience at Taikopalooza, without sacrificing the spirit of connecting with and enjoying the company of like-minded souls. A structured, but stress-free environment is the most conducive way to create a fun, exciting, and memorable Taiko experience, and we'll do our very best to make sure you fully enjoy the few days we'll spend together. All YOU need to do is bring a learner's mind, a willingness to help, and an open heart.

Hello Taiko People! I am so very excited about Taikopalooza 5 this year. It's been a long time since the taiko community has had a chance to gather in person. Although we've done a lot of virtual programming through kaDON during this pandemic there is nothing that replaces in person events like Taikopalooza. I'm looking forward getting together, having meals together, having workshops together and performing together. It's going to be magical!
Shonagh Walker
My name is Shonagh and I love Taiko! 😄
I have been a Taiko beginner for about twenty years now, after first getting bitten by the bug in school. After a number of years of playing as part of a Taiko theatre show, I co-founded Tsuchigumo Daiko with my partner Martin Doyle. Since then I have been lucky enough to study, teach and perform Taiko all over the World.
I have been lucky enough to be involved with Taikopalooza since the first festival. It is an incredible event that brings the community together - I always leave Taikopalooza with my knowledge deeper, my skills better and my heart fuller!

Silke Hanzen
Hi everyone!
This is Silke Hanzen, and I can’t wait to meet YOU and drum together in real life at Taikopalooza5!
I will be teaching a workshop with Benni Haas. Our Taiko-journeys started at different spots almost 20 years ago, but since TaikoPalooza in 2019 we have been working together, love to perform as TaikoDuo and to collaborate with other groups/artists.
we are always looking for the next challenge and are full of visions. It’s a matter of the heart for us, to create opportunities where Taikoplayers can connect, learn and grow.

Hello from Los Angeles!
I just want to say that I can't wait to hang out and play taiko with you all in person.
It's been too long since people have been able to share the same space and connect in real time...
Thank you Razz and the organization team for staying positive and making TP happen again!
