Why UTE: For Your Health

Hi everyone! Today’s Utah Taiko Experience topic is health! From its inception, UTE was planned to be not just a taiko retreat, but a health and nature retreat as well. To me, these things - health, nature and taiko - already fit beautifully together, so to create an event that promotes all three is kind of a “no-brainer”!

This is also an area that will make UTE very unique because in addition to all of the amazing taiko content and positive down-time in nature, we want to promote health and create an overall healing experience for both your body and mind. Nine days gives us a significant amount of time to improve our day to day routines. and being present in an entirely new environment always makes for a great opportunity to start something new!

Here are a few ways in which we are going to support our health at UTE:

- Restful Atmosphere: “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”. Peaceful evenings and starry nights will ensure a good night’s rest. We will also have early morning yoga, fishing, and taiko drills for early risers that will help us set the tone for the entire day.

- Physical activities: In addition to our taiko playing, there will be plenty of other optional physical activities including hiking, climbing, swimming, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding to name a few. Our housing complex also has a small fitness center. There will be a variety of activities available for all fitness levels.

- Schedule Tailored To Health: We are building the daily schedule to maximize community sharing, building, and bonding. For example, we’re putting our downtime in the afternoon when we can be outside together discovering something beautiful and filling the time with great new experiences. Our taiko sessions will happen in the morning and evening, giving us plenty of time in between to process what we have learned. By the end of the evening taiko session, you’ll be 100% ready to chill (maybe some board games, or a dip in the jacuzzi?), and then off to bed for a good night’s sleep :)

And there you have it! This is just a little more of what makes UTE truly unique, and another glimpse into what you can expect to get out of it! Next up, we are going to start talking about the taiko side of things… so STAY TUNED!
